Bourbon Barrel Talk

Scott, AFC, Kofi and Johnny Tsunami, review this small batch release from Garrison Brothers. We hit most of the notes and was shocked to discover the Mashbill near the end of the episode. 

The crew sits down and reviews two Nikka Japanese Whiskeys. The Coffey Grain and Coffey Malt, both 90 proof whiskey with very unique flavor profiles. One is much more bourbonesque than the other, but both bring very sweet approachable flavors. 

Scott and the crew review the latest release from Barrell Bourbon, the Foundation number 5. This small batch release is comprised of four unique bourbons to bring forward a unique blend. Maryland, Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee bourbons all provide a different profile that makes this a unique small batch bourbon.

Scott and the crew compares year 1 to year 2 of Starlight's Blood Moon Bloody Butcher Bourbon release. These are definitely different from any other offerings they have done in the past.  

Scott takes a spin at a fall/winter cocktail. The Apple Pie Old Fashioned is a fresh take on the classic. We made ours with 1.5 ounces Apple Cider, 1 ounce homemade apple syrup and 2 ounces of rye and 2 dashes of angostura bitters.

Homemade syrup recipe

1 cup apple cider, 1 cup brown sugar, two dashes of cinnamon,  bring to boil, simmer for 5-10 minutes, bring back to quick boil, add a 1 teaspoon of vanilla, let cool then jar and enjoy 

 

Scott and the crew reviews a bottle your own from Old Louisville Whiskey Company. Jon brings in a bottle he picked up through the bottle your own experience. This pour was a 51/49 bourbon. 51% corn, 49% malted barley. Check out Amine and his team at Old Louisville for an unique experience. 

Scott and the crew review the most recent Makers BEP release. We go through the tasting notes, our opinions and look for a fruity note that seemed to escape us.

The crew sits down and reviews Garrison Brothers 2023 Cowboy Bourbon release. This years release is the first Hazmat and really brings the flavor. We hope you enjoy our tasting notes and conversation. These bottles will run approximately $250 and each one is supposed to be hand signed by Donnis Todd Master Distiller and comes in a collectors case. 

The crew drinks through the recent release from Starlight Cigar batch. The three were unique releases, Bourbon finished in an Amburana Rum barrel, Bourbon finished in Amburana and Rye finished in Amburana.
